My cat is a picky eater! What can I do to help my cat transition to Really Great Cat food?
Change can be hard, but we are here to help make the change feel a little easier! If your cat is reluctant to try new food, there are a few things you can do to make them feel more comfortable. We recommend transitioning over 10 days as the best way to get even the most picky, change-averse and sensitive tummies on board - check out our guide here.
Here are a few extra tips:
- Try to serve at the same temperature of their preferred foods. If they usually enjoy warm food, try adding warm water or microwaving the food for just a few seconds. Conversely, if they usually enjoy their food straight from the refrigerator, try shaking the carton of Really Great Cat Food and then refrigerating overnight before serving.
- If your cat is super picky, you can go extra slow and begin by placing a small bowl of the new food next to your cat’s current food bowl at meal times. This lets your cat get a whiff of the new food while they enjoy their regular meal. Keep up this routine for about two to three days, and then start following the transition guide, where the foods are placed together in the same bowl. Gradually increase the ratio of Really Great Cat Food and try stirring to combine with their regular food.
- Going slow and being patient is the best way to have success!
